What OceanGrid is

For nations and industries whose data cannot leave their sovereign envelope, renting foreign infrastructure is no longer acceptable. OceanGrid places distributed compute on the seabed inside national waters — cooled by the ocean for free, powered continuously by marine energy, and serviced by a resident fleet of autonomous underwater vehicles. Above the physical architecture sits a quantum-hardened governance layer that enforces who can compute what, where, and under whose authority — cryptographically, not contractually. When authority is revoked, compute stops.

Distributed by design

Authority decisions are made close to where actions happen, not funnelled through a single centre that can fail or be reached.

Why distributed trust infrastructure matters

A trust layer that depends on one centre inherits that centre’s politics, latency and failure modes. As intelligent systems spread across borders, vessels, vehicles and facilities, the authority governing them has to be as distributed as the systems themselves — without fragmenting into inconsistency.

Continuous Authorisation remains the technology IrisKey licenses. OceanGrid describes how that technology is arranged when it operates at scale — the topology, not the trust model. A licensee can embed Continuous Authorisation without OceanGrid; OceanGrid exists for the programmes where distribution, sovereignty and resilience are themselves requirements.
